Isaac Grant is the father of Kady Grant and the Chief Engineer of Heimdall Jump Station.[1]
Personality[]
Isaac is described as being a workaholic, constantly working overtime and not being satisfied until everything is perfect.[2] He cares very much about his family, bringing them up on several occasions.[3] He is also a very rational person, always choosing what is best for his and his family's wellbeing.[1] He's also mentioned by Hanna to possibly like watching geeball, as Hanna asks after the status of the Knights vs Sabers game on his behalf.
Appearance[]
He is described in the book to have curly brown hair and "paper white" skin; "though he's fit enough from clambering all over the station with his team, he's carrying that little bit of extra pudge".
Plot[]
GEMINA: The ILLUMINAE Files_02[]
Isaac's first appearance is in the beginning of Gemina, where he works with station commander Charles Donnelly (Kady's father) to ensure wormhole's function. They talk about their daughters, and the virus from a music label that's been attacking the wormhole computers.
After the attack on the station, he's shot by the BeiTech team led by Travis Falk after trying to escape. He is wanted because he's the Chief of Engineering and knows his way around, but Hanna Donnelly helps him escape and fix up his wound, and gives him dust to keep the pain at bay. He helps Hanna, Nik and Ella with the wormhole, and plans a few traps for the BeiTech privates to stumble upon.
OBSIDIO: The ILLUMINAE FILES_03[]
He appears briefly in Obsidio, as he is the Chief Engineer on the Heimdall to work out technical and communication problems before BeiTech's invasion. He spends a lot of time with his daughter and acting as a father figure for Ella Malikova, who has recently lost her own father. He also helps the Illuminae Group in their attack against BeiTech, though he gets shot by the BeiTech squad in the process.
